One person was hospitalized following a pursuit that ended with police shooting a person in the leg in Spring Valley on Thursday evening, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.

Around 5:40 p.m., officers were responding to call from Chula Vista, when they began pursuing the person to near 8645 Tyler Street in Spring Valley, where the shooting occurred.

Video from the scene shows several officers restraining a man on the concrete with what appears to be a gun on the ground near him.

A red SUV and a black sedan were both seen crashed onto sidewalks and shoulders of the road. The sedan was badly rear-ended while the SUV sustained damage to the front hood of the vehicle.

Sky Ranger 7 was over the scene around 6 p.m., where a heavy police presence could be seen. The person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.

No officers were injured in the incident, CVPD said.

Per the countywide memorandum, the San Diego Police Department will be taking lead on the investigation.
