It’s a boy! Ventura County firefighters and paramedics helped a mother in imminent labor deliver a healthy baby boy in the back of an ambulance Thursday.

Crews responded to a pregnancy‑related emergency along the 23 Freeway in Thousand Oaks. When they arrived, they found the mother already in active labor and safely moved her into the ambulance.

“Within minutes of leaving the scene, Firefighter/Paramedics assisted with the delivery of a healthy baby boy,” the department said in a Facebook post.

The parents named their newborn Andre. Later in the day, the crew stopped by the hospital to visit the family and delivered flowers to congratulate the mother and celebrate Andre’s arrival.

The department thanked the responding crew — firefighter/paramedics Jared Gray and Austyn Frailey, Capt. Tyler Johnson, engineer/paramedic Ali Castro and firefighter Anthony Chaidez — for their quick actions and community service.
