Three security guards at a Pacific Beach bar were stabbed early Sunday during a confrontation with a patron who had just been removed from the business, San Diego police said.

The incident happened shortly after midnight at Maverick’s Beach Club on Garnet Avenue, near Crystal Pier, police spokesperson Lt. Travis Easter said Monday.

According to Easter, a 24-year-old man was removed from the bar, but “later returned and had a confrontation” with the three guards. All three were stabbed and sustained injuries not believed to be life-threatening, he said.

Easter said incident, which is under investigation, was an “isolated event.”

Mavericks said in a statement that “the safety and well-being of our staff and guests remain our top priority. We are working closely with law enforcement and will pursue prosecution of those responsible to the fullest extent of the law.”
