Girls and young women who are interested in participating in this year’s Miss Poway Scholarship Pageant are encouraged to attend a  Feb. 1 orientation and/or Feb. 8 rehearsal.

Parents are also invited to attend both events.

The orientation is set for 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1 at Templars Hall in Old Poway Park at 14134 Midland Road.

The first rehearsal is set for 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8 at the Halcyon Real Estate office at 14282 Danielson St.

This year, the Miss Poway Pageant will celebrate its 62nd annual pageant. Interviews will be held on Saturday, April 11 and the pageant will be held on Sunday, April 12.

The pageant is open to young women between the ages of 12 and 23 as of Sept. 30, 2025. Contestants must live in or attend school in the Poway Unified School District’s Zip codes of 92064, 92127, 92128, 92129 and 92131. Contestants may also have ties to Poway such as attending religious services or having a parent who works in the 92064 Zip code.

However, contestants must not be married or be mothers, officials said.

Sponsored by the Poway Kiwanis Club, the program’s motto is “Building strong, confident and civic-minded young women.”

In the past two years, more than $18,000 worth of scholarships have been awarded to the winners, said Pageant Directors Alyssa Soto and Estela Latifzadeh.

Contestants will participate in a preparation course leading up to the pageant. Topics include interview skills, resume writing, public speaking, media training, self-defense, professional clothing and make-up guidance for all occasions as well as tips for building confidence and poise.

During their reign, the Miss Poway queens and princesses will spend 50 to 100 hours performing community service and making personal appearances throughout Poway and San Diego County.

The goal of the pageant program is to find young ladies with a heart for service who will proudly represent the city of Poway as youth ambassadors, Soto said.

“Our queens are confident, poised and comfortable in social and civic situations, and have a willingness to serve the citizens of Poway,” Soto said.
