Vallejo native and performing artist LaRussell has announced he will be playing at the Super Bowl next week during festivities at Levi’s Stadium.

LaRussell will open the Super Bowl LX Tailgate Concert, which will be headlined by Grammy-nominated artist Teddy Swims. LaRussell will also perform throughout timeouts and commercial breaks from a platform near the Levi’s Stadium field.

LaRussell, who has recently played Outside Lands, Dock of Bay Festival along with many intimate backyard performances in Vallejo, was thrilled to get the gig in Santa Clara.

The Vallejo native had been urging the NFL to let him play ever since he was with the Pittsburg High School Marching Show Band in December.

Earlier this week he took to X, formerly Twitter, to express his excitement.

“I MADE IT FROM MY BACKYARD ALL THE WAY TO SUPERBOWL!!! INDEPENDENTLY!!!,” LaRussell wrote. “I LOVE HOV BUT THIS WAS OUR DOING. MY TEAM WORKED REALLY HARD FOR THIS! THE TEAM AT THE NFL FOUGHT REALLY HARD FOR THIS! THANK YOU GEORGE, MARTIN, MILANNA, GABBY!!! WE DID IT JOE!!!”
