A major medical emergency has resulted in the closure of the West Oakland BART station Friday afternoon.
BART officials announced at about 2:20 p.m. that there is a major delay in both directions because of the emergency and trains aren’t stopping at West Oakland. BART spokesperson Chris Filiippi said someone entered the trackway and a collision with a train may have occurred.
Trains were getting through the West Oakland station on the opposite track, Filippi said. Green Line and Red Line service were also suspended, according to BART officials.
