Transit options to and from the Disneyland Resort will become more limited in March 2026, as the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus network will cease operations.

The Anaheim Transportation Network, which operates the ART busses, announced Wednesday: “After an extended evaluation of our current and future financial position and exhausting all options, ATN will begin an orderly wind-down of operations, with conclusion of service on March 31, 2026. This transition will be implemented in a manner to allow for coordination and transparency as services are responsibly concluded.”

The Disneyland Resort said in a statement, “We’re aware of the situation, recognize the value and importance of resort-area transportation for guests, and are actively exploring next steps.”

The entire Anaheim system transported 8.2 million riders (as of 2024), mostly through ART routes connecting dozens of hotels and local sites to Disneyland. However, the larger transportation network has long complained about budget deficits as labor costs increased and funding generated through hotel fees didn’t keep pace.

The Orange County Register reported last year that with a monthly shortfall of $730,000 for the transportation network, the city of Anaheim was considering taking it over — an option which appears to be off the table now.

Seeking to calm fears about a lack of transportation to Disneyland from area hotels, Anaheim city spokesperson Mike Lyster told the Register: “No one should be concerned about any upcoming visit to our city. Anyone who’s been to our theme parks knows the high level of service getting from parking to the gates. We have every confidence that will continue.”

Getting to and from Disneyland was already going to radically change in the next few years due to the Eastern Gateway project, which will create a new transportation hub on the opposite side of Harbor Boulevard. Permits for the first phase of the project were filed last month, according to the Disney Tourist Blog. Opening the new hub will allow portions of the current bus loading area to be used as part of the Pandora – World of Avatar expansion planned for Disney California Adventure.
