INDEPENDENCE, TWP., MI — Police are investigating after a young child drowned at a local athletic club.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating the circumstances around the drowning of a 5-year-old Sterling Heights girl.
The drowning occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 at the Deer Lake Athletic Club on the 600 block of White Lake Road in Independence Township.
Police have not identified the victim.
Police will release more information as the investigation proceeds.
