BAKERSFIELD – A low cost spay and neuter clinic for unincorporated Kern County residents will be taking place on February 24th at the Kern County Animal Services facility located at 3951 Fruitvale Ave. in Bakersfield; signups for the low-cost clinic began on February 5th at 8:00 AM.
The cost for the clinic is $20 per pet (dog or cat), and copay must be paid within 72 hours of booking the appointment; target zip codes for 0 copay in unincorporated areas of the county include 93305, 93306, 93307 and 93308 (these area codes do not have a copay).
To qualify for the low-cost clinic, unincorporated county residents must provide proof of address, and a photo of the pet; pets must be two months to seven years of age and in overall good health, up to four appointments poor household per lifetime is also stipulated.
Restrictions include no Doberman or Doberman mixes due to clotting issues, pets that are nursing or have given birth in the last 12 weeks do not qualify and pets that have had any type of abdominal surgery do not qualify.

The low cost spay and neuter program is provided by grant funding from PETCO LOVE; DHPP and FVRCP vaccinations are also free and will be available while supplies last.
