Tens of thousands of fans are already starting to arrive in the Bay Area for the Super Bowl. Transit leaders came together on Saturday to talk about their plans to get fans to all the action and to show off a few special tech treats.
The transformation is almost complete at the Moscone Center, where the Super Bowl Experience will kick off on Tuesday.
“Super excited for it, we’re just going to hang out and go meet and greet some of the players and see some of the stuff going on,” said Michael, who lives in San Francisco.
Michael has heard all the buzz about the crowds and events. He says he plans to walk or use BART to get around as downtown streets shut down and traffic picks up.
“With Super Bowl 60 coming to the Bay Area and San Francisco hosting the Pro Bowl along with concerts, neighborhood parties, another other activations, MUNI should be your first choice for getting around San Francisco,” said city mayor Daniel Lurie.
Lurie joined Bay Area transit leaders at SFO Saturday morning to detail the many public transportation options to get to each corner of the Bay.
“We’re going to be running longer trains starting this Tuesday all the way through the end of the Super Bowl, we’re going to be deploying extra staff in the system,” Lurie said.
As those tens of thousands of people begin descending onto the Bay Area over the next few days, travelers at SFO’s Terminal 3 will find something new: considered a hologram experience to welcome visitors and photo op.
Part of the holographic mayor’s message says, “This is a city on the rise and urging visitors to shop and explore. We are ready to welcome the world.”
And the mayor isn’t the only likeness travelers will see.
49ers legends Steve Young and Jerry Rice will be featured too as the Bay Area prepares to roll out the red carpet for the NFL’s biggest events. Transportation leaders say they’re ready to meet the moment.
