Quandre “Dre” Bullock scored a season-high 26 points and the Hawaii basketball team finished with a 6-0 run in the final 27.3 seconds to close out an 89-82 victory over Long Beach State in Walter Pyramid on the LBSU campus.

Rebounding from Thursday’s loss to UC Irvine, the ’Bows received a boost from Bullock and Isaac Finlinson to improve to 16-5 overall and 8-3 in the Big West. The ’Bows have not lost back-to-back games this season.

The ’Bows, who led by as many as 15 in the second half, saw their advantage dwindle to 83-78 with 1:39 to play. UH center Isaac “Big Fish” Johnson was called for a flagrant-1 foul on a rebound attempt. Leopold Levillain hit both free throws to cut the deficit to 83-80, and the Beach maintained possession. With 54.7 seconds to play, LBSU post Petar Majstorovic was fouled, and his two free throws sliced the margin to 83-82.

But Bullock hit a jumper from the left corner to restore the UH edge to 85-82 with 27.3 seconds to go.

On the Beach’s ensuing possession, Levillain’s outlet pass bounced past Shaquil Bender and out of bounds with 13 seconds left.

Bullock was intentionally fouled with 10 seconds left, and his two free throws made it a two-possession game.

Don’t miss out on what’s happening!

Finlinson scored a season-high 19 points for the ’Bows. Johnson converted nine of 10 free throws to finish with 14 points, including 10 in the second half.
