USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force men’s basketball (3-18, 0-10 MW) fell to Fresno State (10-11, 4-6 MW), 79-62, in Mountain West action Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena. Â Freshman guard Ethan Greenberg led the Falcons with 11 points.
Air Force hung with Fresno State early, but went cold in the second half. Â Fresno State knocked down 12 three’s in the game, led by David Douglas Jr’s 21 points and five three’s made.
Air Force trailed by just five at the half 44-39. Â The Falcons shot 55 percent in the opening half, knocking down five three’s.
In the second half, the Falcons got to within two points early in the half. Â But the Falcons then missed 12 straight field goals and found themselves trailing by double digits.
Air Force knocked down nine three’s for the night. Â its 36 rebounds was the most in a MW game so far this season. Â
Greenberg led the Falcons with three made three’s. Â He also tied for the team-lead with a career-high six rebounds. Â Eli Robinson added eight points and two steals.
The Falcons got 28 points from its bench. Â Freshman Riley Dering set career-high’s with eight points and six rebounds. Â Justin Hinds and Elliott Taite score six points and Brendan Martin added five. Â AJ Patterson led the Falcons with a career-high five assists.
Air Force returns to action Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Grand Canyon. Â Tip time is 7 pm MT from Global Credit Union Arena. Â The game will be televised by 3TV and streamed on the MW Network.
