On Sunday at 1:16 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a beach hazards statement valid for Monday, Feb. 2 between 4 a.m. and 9 p.m. for Orange County Coast.
“Breaking waves of 4 to 6 feet with sets to 7 feet on west-facing beaches will combine with higher than average tides and lead to minor tidal overflow and local beach flooding,” according to the NWS San Diego CA. “Predicted high tides at Newport Beach: 6.4 feet (MLLW) at 8:58 a.m. Monday.”
“Minor tidal overflow, beach flooding, and coastal erosion most likely during times of high tides,” the NWS said. “Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.”
