Oakland Township Hosting Design Workshop for Marsh View Park Feb 12

Oakland Township Parks & Recreation Commission is hosting a Design Workshop to gather public feedback for potential improvements at Marsh View Park.

Landscape architects from PEA Group will be facilitating this workshop with the intent to use results to apply for state grant funding.

Marsh View Park (MVP) is Oakland Township’s main destination for active recreation. Originally acquired in 2001, MVP has undergone main improvements over the years including the addition of soccer fields, basketball court, archery range, restrooms, parking, trails, interpretive signage and more.

With frontage on Clarkston Rd. & Stoney Creek Rd. (shown as #8 on the attached “OTPR Park System Map”) these improvements aim to open access at the north end of the park, connect to nearby recreation areas (Bald Mountain) and add facilities (Pickleball & Playground) heavily desired by our residents.

OTPRC would like your feedback on the following project scope:

Parking Lot, Trailhead & Connection to Bald Mountain State Recreation Area

Universally Accessible, multi-use trail for connecting south and north areas of the park as well as local trail network to proposed safety paths.

4-6 Pickleball Courts with necessary support facilities

Inclusive Playground Structure

Potential Boardwalk along eastern trail route to complete full park loop.

Directional, Informational, and Interpretive Signage

Those unable to attend in person can email comments with the subject heading “Marsh View Park Design Workshop” toparksplanning@oaklandtownship.org   We appreciate your input and look forward to seeing you on February 12th!
