Worried residents in a Los Angeles neighborhood believe they’re being targeted by burglary crews after multiple homes in the area were broken into and ransacked.

On Jan. 30, a homeowner, who did not wish to be identified out of safety concerns, said surveillance video captured three masked men scurrying around her backyard in the Mid-Wilshire area.

As they located the security cameras, they quickly cut the cords and tossed the devices into the swimming pool.

“They went room by room and in the master bedroom, the bed was completely taken apart,” she told KTLA’s Jennifer McGraw. “The mattress was on its side, the box springs were removed, so they wanted to see what was in between the mattresses. They took watches, laptops and cash.”

She said a fourth person was waiting in a getaway car outside who helped the trio escape.

After reading similar reports on social media, she realized there were multiple homes nearby that had also been burglarized, possibly by the same crew.

“It just seems to be so rampant,” she said. “It’s really disturbing.”

Just down the street, a neighbor named Emily said her home was also ransacked by burglars on Dec. 22, 2025, and she believes they had been actively scoping out her house.

At the time, Emily was out of town but had a friend house-sitting the property. When the sitter left for a few hours to run errands, that’s when the burglary crew broke into the home.

Her back door was found kicked in with the glass shattered, and inside, the suspects worked quickly and destructively. They escaped with thousands of dollars worth of items, including cash, jewelry, personal valuables and Pokémon cards that belonged to Emily’s young son.

“I think they were just targeting jewelry and cash, and from what we understand, that’s kind of the MO for a lot of the neighbors who have been hit in the area,” she said. “That was also another shock, just finding out how many people [were victimized] through Nextdoor and word-of-mouth and just how many people have been impacted by this.”

As the suspects remain at large, many neighbors said they feel uneasy and frightened by the idea that their home could be targeted at any time.

“It was super traumatizing for my son and especially because it was around Christmas,” Emily said.

Residents believe the burglary crews are professionals who may still be actively scoping out their homes in ways they’re unaware of.

“They come in and they’re pros,” Emily said. “They know exactly what to do. They took out our motion light in the backyard and our neighbor’s and those are pretty high up and hard to get.”

“They were completely head-to-toe in hoodies, masks, gloves and pants,” the other victim said. “They were covered, so we couldn’t even get fingerprints.”

Residents said they plan to increase security measures around their home and to work with their neighbors to stay vigilant and report anything suspicious.

The victims hope that by sharing their stories, the suspects will be caught soon before they target another home.

Anyone with information on the crimes is asked to call the Los Angeles Police Department at 1-877-527-3247 or their local law enforcement agency.
