Sacramento fire crews extinguished a large fire that sparked Monday morning at an abandoned building in the Old North Sacramento area. Capt. Justin Sylvia, a spokesperson for the Sacramento Fire Department, said crews arrived at an abandoned Bank of America around 4:20 a.m. along Del Paso Boulevard near Fairfield Street and north of Arden Way. There, they saw heavy fire, flames going through the roof, so they called a second alarm to request more resources. Crews quickly went to work to keep the flames from spreading to nearby businesses, Sylvia said. They used several ladder trucks and ground crews to send water into the building. An alley behind it helped create a natural firebreak.
