Authorities were investigating the discovery of what appeared to be dismembered human remains in East Oakland, police said.
The incident was being investigated as a homicide, according to the Oakland Police Department.
Officers responded to a report of human remains on the 9700 block of San Leandro Street, authorities said. The body appeared to be decomposing, police said.
Police said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death and the person’s identity.
