A memorial is growing in Playa del Rey in honor of a pregnant mother who died after she was struck and killed by a driver over the weekend.
The woman and her family were on a bicycle ride Saturday in Playa del Rey when a driver struck her and one of her two children. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the crash was reported just after 6 p.m. near the intersection of Pershing Drive and Manchester Avenue.
Police said the pregnant woman, who was identified by family as 36-year-old Regan Cole, died. Her unborn baby was delivered, but later died, as well.
The driver was described as an elderly man who stayed at the scene. LAPD said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
It’s unclear if the driver will face charges in connection with the crash.
