The City of San Diego is facing a new 17-million dollar budget hole. A big part of that appears to be a delay and changes to implementing paid parking in Balboa Park.
A new report finds those delays will cost the city nearly 9-million dollars. The mid-year budget analysis also includes seven million dollars less in the city’s hotel tax projections.
The city had high hopes for parking revenue in Balboa Park, which was initially projected to generate roughly $12.5 million in the ongoing fiscal year.
The 17-million dollar budget hole is separate from the 110 million dollar deficit the city is already facing.
The report will be discussed tomorrow, when it’s presented to the City Council’s Budget Committee, and could include suggestions for a number of emergency cuts to city services.
