FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — February is Black History Month, and students in Fresno Unified celebrated with a tribute to ‘heroes’ in history featuring cultural performances.
Monday’s events at Fresno High School were led by the district’s Black Student Unions. This year’s theme is “Superheroes of our Past.”
Performances and presentations paid tribute to inspiring role models for all young people.
“The people who paved the way for all the Americans who are in this country and have done great things- Martin Luther King, Malcom X, and we are just trying to bring awareness to Black history and bring awareness to the talent that the kids have,” said Robert Green, project manager.
This was the 12th annual Black History Month showcase. All proceeds from the event will support Fresno Unified’s Black Student Union leadership clubs, and all performances were student and teacher-produced.
