City leaders and community members came together for the 46th annual Bakersfield Prayer Breakfast at the Dignity Health Convention Center on Tuesday morning.
The event featured about 1,000 people. Duane Damron, a former longtime Bakersfield College football coach, was the keynote speaker. Eyewitness News sports anchor Greg Kerr interviewed Damron as part of the event.
Damron, 91, grew up in McFarland and played football for McFarland High School before going on to play at UC Davis. He coached at Arvin High before coaching football at BC for 35 years.

Bakersfield Mayor Karen Goh closed the event with a prayer. Other city leaders and organization representatives led prayers for different sectors in the city.
