LONG BEACH, Miss. (WLOX) – Ahead of the Long Beach Carnival Association Parade on Saturday, officials are updating visitors on new and old safety precautions that will be in place.
Due to concerns raised last year by CSX about the close proximity of vehicles, pedestrians, grills, and tents near the railroad tracks during the parade, caution fencing and “No Trespassing” signage are being placed by CSX along the tracks.

The city asks that pedestrians do the following:
Stay clear of the railroad tracksRespect all fencing and posted signsAvoid setting up chairs, tents, grills, or vehicles near the tracksEnsure any rebar staking is properly cappedUncapped rebar will be pulled due to safety concernsDo not leave rebar or stakes protruding from the ground
These measures help ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone while trains remain active on the line.
When it comes to traffic, parade attendees should keep these rules in mind:
No parking will be allowed on Jeff Davis Avenue on Saturday.Barricades will be moved into place along Jeff Davis Avenue on the morning of the parade.Road closures for Jeff Davis Avenue and surrounding parade routes will go into place at 5:15 p.m.On Highway 90, westbound lanes will be closed. Eastbound lanes will temporarily carry two-way traffic.
The Long Beach Carnival Association Mardi Gras Parade begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
