FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — There’s new hope for those looking to buy their first home in California.

Later this month, the state will begin accepting applications for down payment assistance.

It’s part of the California Housing Finance Agency’s Dream for All Shared Appreciation Loan Program.

First-time homebuyers can receive up to 20% off the purchase price or the appraised value in down payment assistance.

The state expects to make up to $200 million available for 2026.

Approval is based on a random selection process.

The application window opens on Tuesday, February 24, and closes on March 16.

Applications will then be selected and audited.

Those who receive conditional approval have 90 days to shop for a home.
