One person was found dead in an Arden-Arcade house fire on Tuesday night, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. Crews responded to the report of a house fire around 10:15 p.m. near the intersection of Watt Avenue and William Way. Captain Mark Nunez of Sac Metro Fire said crews arrived to find heavy fire conditions on the back side of the home. During a search of the home, Nunez said fire crews found one person dead in a bedroom in the back of the house. A man was able to safely get out of the home and was being treated for smoke inhalation. Nunez noted that the home had hoarding conditions, which created a challenge as crews extinguished the fire and carried out searches inside. The house had working smoke detectors, Nunez said, which helped alert the person who was able to exit the residence. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
