A teenage girl was killed and another woman was hospitalized after a fire broke out at a house in Hollywood early Wednesday, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

A crew of over 40 firefighters responded to a two-story fourplex on the 1700 block of N. Vista del Mar Avenue.

Firefighters knocked down the flames in about 20 minutes and searched the residence.

They found a 15-year-old girl who was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman believed to be in her 70s or 80s who was transported to the hospital in grave condition after firefighters performed CPR.

When the older woman was initially found, she had no pulse and was not breathing, according to Capt. Cody Weireter with the LAFD.

Firefighter paramedics were able to help her regain a pulse on the way to the hospital.

The teenager and the other woman were the only two at the home, LAFD said.

It was not clear how the fire started. The investigation is ongoing.
