OAKLAND — A bicyclist hit by a vehicle in Chinatown on Dec. 27 has died from his injuries, authorities said.

Feixiong Qin, who authorities said turned 66 after the collision and had addresses in Oakland and Hayward, died Jan. 11 at a hospital.

He was riding a bicycle in a designated lane southbound on Webster Street just after 5 p.m. on Dec. 27 when, according to initial police reports, he was struck by a Toyota Prius making a turn from southbound Webster Street to westbound 12th Street.

Police confirmed Qin was not wearing a helmet.

The vehicle driver, a San Leandro man, remained at the crash site and provided a statement to police, Lt. Tim Dolan, the lead investigator, said.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, pending follow-up interviews and retrieval of video surveillance camera footage of the collision, police said.
