A shooting at a bus stop in Los Angeles’ Westlake District killed one person as investigators searched for two people responsible for the death, the Los Angeles Police Department said Wednesday.

The shooting was reported on 3rd Street and Lucas Avenue at around 11:40 a.m. following an altercation between the victim and the suspects, according to the LAPD.

It was not immediately clear what the nature of the altercation was, but police said it happened at a Metro bus stop. The shooting occurred outside a bus, police clarified.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the victim, in a black shirt and short, with gunshot wounds. He was declared dead at the scene and was not taken to a hospital, according to the LA Fire Department.

Two suspects were still at large Wednesday afternoon. Suspect descriptions were not immediately available.
