New Hampshire native manages bar in San Francisco dedicated to New England sports fans
SO WHERE ARE THEY GATHERING TOM? YEAH, GUYS, THERE IS A SPORTS BAR IN SAN FRANCISCO THAT ON THE WALLS COVERED IN BOSTON SPORTS GEAR AND ALSO LICENSE PLATES FROM AROUND NEW ENGLAND, A PLACE FOR PATRIOTS FANS TO GATHER THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY. AND THERE’S A NEW HAMPSHIRE CONNECTION. WE SPOKE TO THE BAR MANAGER, WHO IS ACTUALLY FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE. IT’S A CAMARADERIE. IT’S A, YOU KNOW, WHEN YOU LIVE IN A FOREIGN CITY, ESPECIALLY ONE THAT’S GOT THE TEAMS LIKE SAN FRANCISCO HAS IN DIEHARD GIANTS FANS AND FORTY-NINERS FANS. YOU KNOW, YOU CAN GO, YOU CAN BE OUTNUMBERED ANYWHERE. SO BEING HAVING A PLACE TO GO, YOU BUILD, YOU BUILD FRIENDSHIPS, YOU BUILD CONNECTIONS. SO WE GOT A LOOK INSIDE CONNECTICUT YANKEE, WHICH I MEAN, THE WALLS ARE JUST COVERED NEWSPAPERS AND JERSEYS AND BANNERS. THE CEILING HAS ALL SIX PATRIOTS CHAMPIONSHIP BANNERS HUNG UP ON IT, HOPING TO ADD A SEVENTH THERE FOR SURE. THE LICENSE PLATE THAT WE MENTIONED, ALL FROM THE NEW ENGLAND STATES THEY DIDN’T BUY THOSE PEOPLE WOULD BRING THEM BY AND GIVE THEM TO THE BAR WHEN THEY WERE JUST STOPPING IN. SO WHEN THERE IS A PATRIOTS PLAYOFF GAME, THAT BAR IS JUST PACKED. TONS OF PATRIOTS JERSEYS AND GEAR. AND THE BAR HAS BEEN ALSO GETTING A LOT OF CALLS FROM PEOPLE COMING INTO TOWN. THEY’RE HAVING SOME EVENTS AND SPECIALS THIS WEEKEND AND SAY FANS, HEAD ON DOWN THERE, BUT GET THERE EARLY ON SUNDAY. THEY’RE GOING TO OPEN THEIR DOORS AT 11 SEVERAL HOURS BEFORE KICKOFF HERE. BACK HERE IN SANTA CLARA, ABOUT AN HOUR SOUTH OF SAN FRANCISCO. BUT PATRIOTS NATION SURELY HAS A HOME AT AT LEAST ONE SPOT HERE IN THE BAY AREA. GUYS, BACK TO YOU IN STUDIO, BUT ALSO 11 A.M. During a Patriots playoff game, tons of fans pack the bar in Patriots jerseys and gear.
The bar has been getting a lot of calls from people coming in to town ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl.
They are having some events and specials this weekend and say fans are welcome but they encouraged to arrive early on Sunday.
