CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) — Mother nature creates the perfect backdrop for this budding business.

Farmer and florist Svetlana Oliinyk launched Lovely Blooms Flower Farm in Clovis nearly two years ago, but it was her mother that introduced her to gardening when she was just nine years old.

Growing and designing her flowers from May to June, Oliinyk is offering Valentine’s Day arrangements for the first time with her signature aesthetic.

“I like to combine color, see if they compliment each other and see if they bring out the beauty in each flower,” she said.

Oliinyk shared some of her inspiration to the unique creations.

“I look at the color, so I see pink, this little peach orange, then you see yellow,” she said.

She suggests looking at the undertones of the main flowers and leaves if you’re creating your own arrangement.

Flowers should be one-and-a-half to two times the height of the vase.

“Each flower does have its own vase life,” Oliinyk said.

Svetlana has three simple steps to making those blooms last.

“Start with a clean vase because the water stays clean, the flowers stay longer,” she said.

The next step is to trim the stems at a 45-degree angle so they can absorb more water.

“The third step is every other day, change the water,” Oliinyk said. “If you want, you can cut the stems about half an inch.”

You can order your bouquets online.

Valentine’s Day orders can be picked up February 11 through the 14th.
