DOWNEY — The St. Pius X-St. Matthias football team celebrated National Signing Day on Wednesday with seven student-athletes, led by senior defensive tackle Elijah Ali, who signed with the University of Texas.
The 6-foot-5 285-pound three-star recruit visited Texas last month and chose the Longhorns over offers from Delaware State, Sacramento State, San Diego State and Temple.
Senior defensive/linebacker Marcus Ball, senior receiver/defensive back Jaylen Stokes and senior receiver Keeny Peevy all signed with Sacramento State.
Senior receiver/defensive back Gregory Taylor, the team’s captain, signed with Western Colorado.
During the early signing period in December, senior defensive tackle Malik Brooks signed with USC and senior receiver/safety Demari Nunley signed with UNLV.
That brings the Warriors’ total to seven players in the Class of 2026 who will play college football next season.
St. Pius X finished the 2025 season as a CIF Southern Section Division 6 finalist.
