FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Hundreds of Fresno Unified students hold a walkout of class Wednesday.
It’s a third day of protest in response to President Trump’s immigration policies and ice actions.
The Principal of Edison High, J. L. Munoz, sent out an email to parents on Tuesday, giving them a heads-up that the school received information that students would walkout on Wednesday to protest ICE.
Students from different schools left campus around 10:30a.m.
Around 200 Bullard High School students walked through Fig Garden Village, down Shaw to Fashion Fair Mall, holding signs and shouting “F— ICE”.
A group from Edison High School walked to Fresno City Hall, where they held a small demonstration.
Principal Munoz in his email said that district buses took then back to school and they were in class by 1:30p.m.
Fresno Unified says it does not encourage students to leave campus or miss class, saying it offers alternatives for students to express their opinions in a safe environment.
Edison’s principal was asking parents to “please have a conversation with their student.”
