A small plane made an emergency landing at Mission Beach shortly before noon Tuesday, with the pilot landing upright on the sand, officials said. No one on the beach was hit and the two people onboard were uninjured.

A witness called police just before 11:45 a.m. and reported that the plane was on the sand near Jersey Court, near lifeguard tower 16, police Officer Sarah Foster said.

The plane is a single-engine Cessna, registered to Aero Standard Ltd out of Oceanside, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

No other information about the incident was immediately available.
