SCOTTS VALLEY — A Soquel man was airlifted to a medical center over the hill to be treated for injuries he suffered during an early morning collision on Graham Hill Road this week, police said.
Santa Cruz units of the California Highway Patrol were called at approximately 7:45 a.m. Tuesday to the intersection of Graham Hill and and Cress roads near Scotts Valley after receiving reports of an accident involving a 2018 Toyota RAV4 and a 2023 Honda Rebel motorcycle, according to a release from the agency.
First responders learned that a 32-year-old San Jose woman driving the RAV4 southbound on Graham Hill Road was attempting to make a left turn onto Cress Road when, for reasons still under investigation, a collision occurred with the 25-year-old Soquel man driving the Honda motorcycle in the northbound direction.
The speed of both vehicles was not immediately known, and investigators have ruled out alcohol or drugs as contributing factors.
Despite wearing a helmet, the 25-year-old driver of the motorcycle suffered major injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Valley Medical Center in San Jose by an air ambulance. The Toyota driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was uninjured, according to the release.
