San Francisco leaders kicked off its Black heritage celebrations on Wednesday with a special event inside city hall.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the annual event nationally. It also marks the 70th anniversary of the San Francisco African-American Historical Society, which helped to throw the annual commemoration.
“It’s important for us to remind ourselves what we’ve done and what we’ve contributed to the society,” said Williams with the historical society.
