Grand Canyon’s women’s basketball team outscored San Diego State 24-11 in the fourth quarter Wednesday night in Phoenix to score a 57-44 Mountain West Conference victory and end the Aztecs’ 13-game winning streak.

The loss reduced San Diego State’s lead in the Mountain West to one game over UNLV. Grand Canyon improved to 9-14 and 8-5 with their third straight win. The Aztecs (17-4, 11-1) had defeated Grand Canyon 87-69 at Viejas Arena on Jan. 7.

Grand Canyon (9-14, 8-5) went on runs of 10-0 and 13-1 over 5 minutes and 10 seconds after Bailey Barnhard scored on a layup with 6:48 to play to narrow the Antelopes’ lead to 40-37. It was the Aztecs’ first true road loss of the season.

Guard Naomi Panganiban was the only Aztec in double figures with 15 points. Kennedy Lee had seven points.

San Diego State shot just 30.4% (14 for 46) from the floor and went 2-for-9 from 3-point range. The Aztecs were outrebounded 33-27 and committed 19 turnovers. Grand Canyon had a 22-5 edge in points off turnovers. The Antelopes shot 41.5% (22 for 53) from the field.

Chloe Mann led GCU with 18 points. Julianna Lamendola had 12 points and eight rebounds.
