Woman and grandson killed in fire at retirement center in Fresno identified

FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Two people are dead after an apartment fire on Tuesday morning in southeast Fresno.

The fire was at Willow Retirement Center near Butler and Willow Avenues.

The Fresno Fire Department has confirmed that two people were found dead inside the building.

The victims have been identified as 66-year-old Rita Avila and her 22-year-old grandson, Joseph Irelan of Fresno.

Investigators are still working to determine how the fire started.
