Bakersfield, CA – On the evening of Sunday, October 19, 2025, a single-vehicle rollover crash left several people injured, according to KGET.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the collision occurred around 8:00 PM near Shadow Hills Drive, close to Alfred Harrell Highway and Fairfax Road.

Initial investigations suggest that an 18-year-old man from Bakersfield was driving a 2020 white Toyota Camry eastbound on Alfred Harrell Highway in the Number 2 lane at an estimated 80 mph when he lost control. For unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and rolled down an embankment, coming to rest off the roadway.

Emergency responders transported the driver and three 17-year-old female passengers to Kern Medical for treatment. The California Highway Patrol reported that all occupants sustained moderate to major injuries. One passenger was listed in critical condition.

Authorities stated that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. Preliminary findings indicate that alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in the crash. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the incident.

Single-Vehicle Collisions

In some cases, investigations may reveal that even in a single-vehicle accident, nearby drivers or unsafe road features share some responsibility. California’s Comparative Negligence rule means that, even if those injured in accidents are found partially at fault, they may still be eligible to receive partial compensation for damages.

Passenger Liability

Driver liability insurance covers both those outside the vehicle and passengers inside. While it can be emotionally difficult to file a Personal Injury claim against someone close to the victim, the financial challenges after an accident can be overwhelming. As a neutral third party, an experienced personal injury attorney can help navigate these emotional complexities.
