BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 23-year-old woman was arrested in the suspected hit-and-run crash on Ming Avenue that later killed a motorcyclist.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on January 31, 2026, at around 10:44 p.m., officers were called to the 4500 block of Ming Avenue, near Stine Road, regarding a crash between a vehicle and a motorcycle.
When officers arrived, officers found the motorcyclist, a man, who was suffering from apparent non-life-threatening injuries. The involved vehicle, described as a white sedan, drove away from the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
Police said a preliminary investigation found the motorcycle, a black Kawasaki, was traveling eastbound on Ming Avenue when the white sedan made an unsafe turning maneuver, causing the crash.
Police said on February 1, 2026, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers contacted a woman who was believed to be the driver of the white sedan.
On February 1, 2026, at around 9:30 a.m., the motorcyclist died from his injuries while receiving medical care at an out-of-town hospital.
The Bakersfield Police Department said after further investigation, officers arrested 23-year-old Martha Obregonperez on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, for vehicular manslaughter and hit and run causing death.
