Fresno State’s Paris Mahoney (fences, flat) and TCU’s Piper Keller (horsemanship) and Cassie Hacking (reining) were named the Big 12 Equestrian Riders of the Month for January.
Mahoney went undefeated in the jumping seat disciplines in Fresno State’s 13-5 win over the then-No. 7 UC Davis. In the fences discipline, Mahoney earned the first point of the meet for the Bulldogs, defeating her opponent 82-73, the largest margin of victory in the event. The sophomore then clinched the final point of the meet in the Flat discipline with a 76-73 score. This was the second time this season Mahoney went undefeated in both events.
In the western seat, Keller led the Horned Frogs to a 14-4 victory over No. 7 UC Davis with an individual win in horsemanship. The freshman posted the highest score in the western seat with a 77.50, defeating her opponent by five points. For the ride, Keller earned the first MOP honor of her career.
Hacking earned her third win of the season against the then-No. 7 UC Davis in the reigning discipline. The freshman posted the highest score in reining with a 71.50, sealing the victory over the Aggies. This is Hackings second Conference honor this season.
