One person was killed in a police shooting after officers responded Thursday morning to a report of a man with a gun at the California Science Center parking lot in Exposition Park.

LAPD received a call to the museum at about 9:30 a.m. about the armed man. The agency said the police shooting was in a parking lot next to the Science Center.

The suspect was struck by an officer’s gunfire, police said.

NBCLA has reached out to authorities for more information.

Video showed LAPD patrol SUVs and at least two ambulances outside the museum next to the Exposition Park Rose Garden. What appeared to be a rifle could be see on the ground.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

Located south of downtown Los Angeles, the science museum is in an area dotted with educational institutions, including the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, the California African American Museum and the University of Southern California campus.
