SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San José State softball team will open the 2026 season in the Stanford Invitational from Friday, Feb. 6 to Sunday, Feb. 8. The Spartans will play five games in the event, competing against No. 20 Oklahoma State, No. 17 Stanford and Cal. Two games will be featured on the ACC Network.

The Spartans will play two games against Stanford and Cal and one against Oklahoma State.
The last time the Spartans defeated a nationally ranked opponent was also the last time they defeated Stanford, on April 17, 2012, in a 2-1 victory, in San Jose. Stanford was ranked No. 16 at that time. 
The Spartans currently hold an 11-29 record against the Cardinal. The last time the two faced was on March 9, 2024, where the Cardinal topped the Spartans 10-2. 
SJSU holds a 7-48 record against Cal. The Spartans defeated the Golden Bears 3-1 in their last meeting on April 8, 2025. This was also the last time the Spartans defeated a Power Four Opponent. 
Oklahoma State and SJSU have played once before on March 16, 2012, where the Spartans defeated the Cowgirls 1-0.
The Spartans will see seniors Reina Zermeno, Ahmiya Noriega and Shay McDowell return. 
Noriega was named to the All-Mountain West Preseason Team after leading the nation in triples last season with 10 while slashing a .352 avg, 26 RBIs, eight doubles and two homeruns.
