BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Unit is set to conduct a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, at an undisclosed location within the city limits.

The checkpoint will operate between 6:30 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Officers will be on the lookout for signs of alcohol and drug impairment, while also checking drivers for proper licensing. Drivers will experience only brief delays.

Specially trained officers will be available to evaluate drivers suspected of drug-impaired driving, which includes illegal narcotics, prescription drugs, marijuana, and some over-the-counter medications.

The checkpoint is funded by a grant received through the California Office of Traffic Safety, in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
