BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Seven people were arrested after complaints of a growing encampment on District Boulevard.
The Bakersfield Police Department said on Monday, February 2nd, 2026, the City of Bakersfield’s Community Vitality Team received a complaint of a growing encampment in the 6000 block of District Boulevard.
The Bakersfield Police Department’s Impact Unit responded and found numerous encampments set up near a city-owned sump.

Seven people were arrested for charges related to trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics, and warrants.
City of Bakersfield Code enforcement and Rapid Response Teams seized personal property for safekeeping from those arrested and cleaned the area.

Police said on Wednesday, February 4th, Community Vitality returned to the 6000 block of District Boulevard and completed clean-up efforts, with the assistance of private contractors.
Those arrested were identified as:
39-year-old Amie Mathison45-year-old Rebecca Skipper63-year-old Mark Coolbaugh51-year-old Conrad Rivera49-year-old Adam Wickham34-year-old Marlon Solares27-year-old Peyton Schnell
In a release, it said, “The Bakersfield Police Department recognizes the impact these quality-of-life issues have on our community and are committed to collaborative efforts to solve them.”
Encampments can also be reported to the City of Bakersfield through its free Bakersfield Mobile App – available on both Apple and Android devices – or by using the online Service Request portal.
