Two juveniles have been charged in connection with a shooting in San Francisco’s Western Addition neighborhood that killed a 15-year-old girl and injured two other minors last week, the District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.
On Friday evening, police responded to a shooting in the area of Golden Gate Avenue and Laguna Street. Three minors were found with gunshot wounds, and one of them, 15-year-old Jayda Mabrey, died of her injuries at a hospital. The other victims are expected to survive.
Police on Monday made two arrests in the case. A 16-year-old has been charged with one count of homicide, two counts of attempted homicide, one count of assault with a firearm and other felony charges. A 15-year-old suspect has been charged with attempted homicide and other felony charges, prosecutors said.
The two suspects are not being named because they are minors.
They were scheduled to appear in juvenile court Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Prosecutors will request that the suspects be detained because of the public safety risk they pose, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
A GoFundMe account set up on behalf of Mabrey’s family had raised more than $34,000 as of Thursday.
