FRESNO, Calif. — The Western Oregon baseball team opened its season Thursday with a dominant 17–0 win over Fresno Pacific at Dan Martin Stadium.

The Wolves (1–0) set the tone early, scoring four runs in the first inning behind run-producing hits from Chris Arce and Tyler Mohler before Alex Harden capped the frame with a two-run home run to right. Western Oregon added three more in the third when Mohler launched a three-run homer, then blew the game open in the fourth with a 10-run outburst that put the contest out of reach.

Western Oregon sent 15 batters to the plate in the fourth, scoring on a mix of pressure and power. Collin Irwin drove in a run on a fielder’s choice, Robby Shepherd added an RBI on a Sunbirds error, and multiple Wolves crossed the plate on hit-by-pitches and a wild pitch before Jason Olsen crushed a three-run home run to left. Shepherd later delivered an RBI single to cap the inning.

Mohler led the Wolves offensively, going 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. Olsen finished 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and three RBI, while Shepherd was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Arce went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Zane Garvey added a 2-for-4 day with a double.

On the mound, Ayden Holker earned the win in the season opener, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing four hits and striking out five. Ethan Yazzie followed with a scoreless seventh to complete the shutout.

The Wolves play a doubleheader against FPU starting at 2 p.m. Friday.
