When officers arrived at the scene, they said they found evidence of forced entry. The suspect reportedly fled the scene before they arrived. However, neighborhood video surveillance showed a possible vehicle associated with the suspect.
Based on the video, police matched the registered owner to the suspect. He was identified by CPD as Cole Royat, 28, who was subsequently pulled over for a traffic stop.
Additionally, CPD said they served a search warrant at his residence and found numerous stolen items that belonged to the victim. Royat was arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail.
