There’s a very large number of people who will only be tuning in to the Super Bowl for one thing: the half-time show.
Just a week after a record night at the Grammys, Bad Bunny is set to perform at Levi’s.
He’s not only a global musical super star, but a social media sensation; and has a history of showing up in unsuspecting places before and after big shows, like local restaurants.
Boriqua Kitchen is a Puerto Rican food truck stationed near Levi’s Stadium. Owner and chef Anthony Lamboy says he’s hoping to get the attention of Bad Bunny and his group.
And it’s not just a bunny dream; Lamboy is a graduate of the Cordon Bleu Culinary School with a large online following, and says Bad Bunny’s team previously hired Boriqua to cater two events before in Oakland and Sacramento.
Lamboy says he’s now trying to make arrangements to be inside Levi’s on Super Bowl Sunday; but before that, he’s hoping Bad Bunny will be in the mood for his food during rehearsals this week.
“Sometimes he likes to go out late in the evenings and then maybe go get something to eat, so we’re gonna try and stay in the area and maybe some of his dancers and followers will come out, get some food and, who knows, maybe he might pop up, so we’ll be ready!” Lamboy said.
Social media lit up after Bad Bunny and his entourage of 80 people stopped in at the Sol Food Restaurant in San Rafael during his concert tour in 2022.
The manager, Francisco Gomez, remembers it vividly.
“It was a couple of hours of adrenaline. Definitely excitement, nerves, a combination of that as well. But definitely our main purpose at that moment was ‘let’s give him 100% of our customer service,’ what we usually do every day,” Gomez said.
Now all they can do is wait, hope, and keep cooking.
“We are hoping, we do, we really do. But I understand he probably has a busy schedule, with rehearsals and everything. But if he decides to take a break for a couple of hours, and escape from that, the doors are open,” Gomez said.
