SAN JOSE — Police have announced the arrest of two men in their 40s in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy this past weekend, which marked the city’s first homicide of the year.
The shooting was reported at 4:48 p.m. in the 1500 block of Winchester Boulevard, near the Cadillac-Winchester neighborhood, for a report of shooting in a parking lot, according to the San Jose Police Department. They arrived to find the underage victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The boy was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said. He was identified as Kevin Ivan Morga Cruz, a San Jose resident who lived near where he was shot.
Police said the SJPD Covert Response Unit tracked two suspects to Santa Clara, and on Tuesday arrested Jose Flores, 47, and John Flores, 43, both San Jose residents. They were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of murder, and are being held without bail.
Homicide investigators determined that an altercation erupted between the two men and the victim, and soon after ended with the shooting. Additional details about the circumstances were not released Friday.
