Police are investigating a stabbing on the campus of Oakland University on Thursday night and are searching for two suspects who fled the scene after the assault.

According to OU Police Chief Mark Gordon, the male victim —- who is not a student — was stabbed multiple times outside Van Wagoner Hall and was subsequently let inside by an unidentified person. Police responded to the scene at around 8:15 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls about a fight in progress, Gordon said.

First responders transported the victim to McLaren Oakland Hospital where he was prepped for surgery, Gordon said.

Prior to police arriving, the two suspects fled in a dark-colored SUV and remained at-large as of Friday morning. Gordon said witnesses described the suspects as black men in their early 20s. One suspect had chin-length dreadlocks, is 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, and was wearing a black North Face jacket, black pants and white shoes with blue on the back at the time. The other suspect had short curly hair and was wearing a camouflage jacket with a black hood, black pants and black shoes at the time.

The campus was put on lockdown following the assault but was reopened Friday morning.

Gordon said it wasn’t clear why the victim was on campus but may have been there to visit a student.

Anyone with further information on the incident is asked to contact the Oakland University Police Department at 248-370-3331.

Additional details will be reported by The Oakland Press as they become available.
