BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield police have made an additional arrest in connection with unsafe driving activities in the Mesa Marin area last week.

Officers arrested 22-year-old Anthony Seberini on Thursday around 9 p.m. after finding his vehicle. Seberini is suspected of performing burnouts during a takeover event in northeast Bakersfield. He was booked into the Ledo Detention Facility on charges of reckless driving and vandalism, causing property damage. His vehicle has been impounded for 30 days.

The incident happened on Jan. 30, 2026, around 10 p.m., when officers received multiple 911 calls reporting a large vehicle gathering and unsafe driving near Mesa Marin Park, Hwy. 178, and the City in the Hills neighborhood. Upon arrival, police found several hundred vehicles gathered in a parking lot, with some engaging in unlawful driving behavior. Officers prioritized public safety, crowd dispersal, and coordinated enforcement. Two vehicles were impounded for reckless driving, and several others have been identified through on-scene observation and follow-up investigation.

The Bakersfield Police Department acknowledges the concern and frustration expressed by residents in the affected neighborhoods and remains committed to addressing illegal street racing and takeover-style events, which pose serious risks to public safety. Residents are encouraged to report unsafe or illegal activity as soon as it is observed.
